All Kashmir Car Booking vehicles are designated 100% non-smoking. This policy has been in effect since 2018 and covers all trips across Kashmir including routes to Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg, Doodhpathri, and beyond.
Who Does This Policy Apply To?
The no-smoking policy applies to all occupants of Kashmir Car Booking vehicles — passengers, the renter/booker, and any accompanying guests. It covers:
- All cigarettes, cigars, bidis, and pipe tobacco
- E-cigarettes, vapes, and electronic nicotine delivery systems
- Hookah pens, heated tobacco products, and similar devices
- Any substance that produces smoke, vapour, or lingering odour inside the vehicle
Where Is Smoking Permitted?
Smoking is permitted only outside the vehicle at designated stops. On popular routes like Srinagar to Gulmarg (56km) or Srinagar to Pahalgam (95km), your driver will happily stop at scenic viewpoints or rest areas where you may step outside to smoke. Simply ask your driver — they are happy to accommodate short breaks along the route.
Cleaning charge applied if a vehicle is returned with any evidence of smoking — including odour, ash, burn marks, or residue. This covers deep cleaning, deodorising, and oxidation treatment that takes up to 24 hours.
How Is Smoking Detected?
Our drivers and vehicle inspection team are trained to identify smoking evidence through multiple methods:
- Visual inspection: Ash, cigarette butts, burn marks on upholstery or floor mats
- Odour detection: Lingering smoke or vape smell in the cabin, seats, or air conditioning system
- Driver report: Direct observation by the driver during the trip
- Residue check: Tobacco residue on windows, dashboard, or door handles
How Are Smoked-In Vehicles Cleaned?
When smoking evidence is detected, the vehicle undergoes a comprehensive restoration process that takes up to 24 hours — making the vehicle unavailable for other travellers during this period:
- Complete interior vacuuming and fabric deep-cleaning
- Air conditioning system flush and filter replacement
- Natural deodoriser application to all fabric surfaces
- Oxidation treatment to neutralise embedded odours
- Window and dashboard chemical cleaning
- Final quality inspection before re-deployment
This is why the ₹3,000 cleaning fee exists — it covers the actual cost of restoring the vehicle to its original smoke-free condition.
How to Avoid the Cleaning Fee
Avoiding the ₹3,000 fee is simple — do not smoke inside the vehicle. Additionally:
